Six film festivals and countless networking events later, my name is out in the world as a budding filmmaker.

I keep finding that if you’re the one to say “hello” first, there’s usually a rush of relief and gratitude that you opened a conversation. My hope for you in 2024 is that you keep reaching out.

That sense of belonging and purpose is part of what keeps everyone throwing energy into this wild pursuit.

The best congratulations I received today was a crispy high-five from one of my target producers. We met while I was on my networking warpath and stayed in touch. As the sound of a satisfactory high-five echoed in the coffee shop I thought to myself “See you on set next season.”

Isn’t a room full of wallflowers simply a garden?

“What if no one shows up Alex?” “Emma, people are gonna show up. You’re paying them.”

If I don’t respond to that instagram DM right away, please take heart in knowing I’m most likely one hour deep into a three hour reading session by my digital Netflix fireplace.

I booked another NYC modeling gig! How?! Well the creative director told me she loved a video I made on instagram! She said "we love your energy, it's so natural and fun, and we thought, we HAVE to have this girl on set! We replayed your video like 20 times."

Am I having fun? The answer, after 24 years of life, is still yes.
